Modern spice shop and restaurant in a former Greyhound bus station
A lesser known gem of Madison, which adds to the absolutely incredible experience. Flavors were off the charts from the cocktails through the meal. The pork chop was a top 3 main experienced ever in Madison. True to their core, they appropriately salt and season their dishes adding to the overall positive dining experience.
Was at the Madison VA for an appointment, I live an hour away so looked for a lunch spot. What a find! The Deliciouser was so unique, exceptional and creative cocktails, and the food was incredible. Truly the best quiche I’ve ever had and their creamy take on it was amazing. I especially loved the experience of sitting at the bar and watching the talented chefs craft their creations.
We ate at the restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were lucky enough to sit on the patio. Our kiddo has had cooking camps there, but never had eaten at the restaurant so we needed to remedy that. :) The service was good, the food was delicious (no pun intended!), and the patio was really nice and calm. It’s not super huge, but definitely enough room to be comfortable. We made reservations just in case, but there was room for walk-ins as it was a weekday. In our group we had burgers, the Gabagool (which was huge), EVOO potato chips, Creole Cottage Pommes Frites, and shared an Oaxaca Spiced Chocolate Crackle Cookie. It was a lovely lunch and the portions were of a good size. Part 2-we came back the following week for our anniversary. Inside is a little bit louder, but it was still easy to talk. We shared signature Mignonette oysters, the sizzling Berbere Spiced Beef, Agnolotti, Lamb (not sausage), Herbes de Provence Crème Brûlée, Earl Grey Tiramisu. I forget what our drinks were called, but both alcoholic and the N/A were tasty. It’s great they offer something besides soda for those who aren’t wanting alcohol. Our waiter was very sweet and brought out two complimentary desert glasses of red wine. All in all I can’t say enough great things about the Deliciouser. We already bought their spices and will definitely make time to stop in at the restaurant more often. :) Also, the kids cooking classes are great so keep them coming! Meals can be $10-$20 for lunch, more like $15-$30 for dinner or more depending on what (or how many dishes) you order.
Very rarely will I review a place the same evening let alone while still there. Tonight can be an exception. I cant wait. From the perfectly seasoned bark on the Oxaca pork shoulder to the delight that is always berries and cream with cake. The flavor here was incredible and thats no doubt the product of the spice lab next door. What blew me away was the taste of history that comes in each bite of spices and the smells if you have ever travelled afar that matched the memories. This is a talented cooking crew and the service was exceptional. I say it all the time but do yourself a favor and make a reservation. This is a fun community event if you go communal tables or if like me and eating alone I asked to be where the action is at. Watching the cooking processes was almost, almost, as good as eating the food. This off the path home is going to be a staple of mine anytime I visit and from start to finish all I can say is wow, what a meal, tour, smile, and satisfying experience.
First time for me and my 2 dining companions tonight. We were celebrating my 70th birthday. We were not disappointed at all. Instead we were blown away from the moment we walked in. Friendly greeting, jaw dropping ambience. The menus, yes plural. We had a drink menu, which we sampled a few. Delightful. Then their specials and the menu. We sampled 4 different items plus drinks and dessert. Every choice was beyond our expectations. Presentation was eye candy but taste...we all sampled everything and would order it all again. Perfect execution of flavors and textures. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Already looking forward to our next dinner here. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this a wonderful place to enjoy scrumptious food.
