Very disappointed with the matcha at Meraki. We ordered a strawberry matcha with almond milk and it was essentially a $9 cup of milk. The drink was about 98% milk with very little actual matcha flavor coming through. To make matters worse, the matcha wasn’t properly mixed and had a grainy, clumpy texture, suggesting it wasn’t prepared correctly. The strawberry flavor was also barely noticeable because it was completely overwhelmed by the excessive amount of milk. For a drink that costs $9.00, I expect a high-quality matcha made with care and balanced ingredients. Instead, it tasted watered down and poorly executed. What makes the price even harder to justify is that the alternative milk appeared to be standard Silk almond milk—nothing premium or unique that would warrant such a steep price. If you’re charging $9 for a matcha, it should be exceptional. Unfortunately, this one was not even close. I wanted to like it, but between the poor preparation, lack of flavor, and high price, I won’t be ordering it again.
