Boerner is a wonderful garden with beautiful flowers in the spring and summer and gorgeous fall colors in autumn. I love Boerner so much that I had my engagement photoshoot here. It was so special and the photos turned out beautifully! I recently signed up for the 2-year membership, which was only $90 for two adults and gives me access to over 300 gardens, including Chicago Botanic! Also, easy parking in the lot and never too crowded!
So quiet and peaceful today. This Tuesday is very hot so sparsely populated. Sitting near the waterfall listening to nature a cute groundhog (probably not cute to the gardeners) snuck up behind me I tried to get a photo but she was camera shy. This place is magical. I will be back several more times to listen to the wind talk to the trees. There is a lovely garden for children here it's got musical features and places to hide. Bring a picnic basket and spend the day. Buy a membership and help keep the gardens alive! The garden has a reciprocal agreement and you can enjoy 300 or more other gardens with your membership. Bring a book and sit quietly. Bring good music and headphones and hike the well maintained pathways! There are yoga glasses and gardening classes also free concerts out here!
We spent a few hours here with our four-year-old granddaughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Margie's garden was a little fantasyland for kids. Beautiful grounds with a ton of places to walk or sit and relax.
What a beautiful location. Stopped here on April 23, 2026. The magnolias, tulips, Virginia blue bells and lenton roses were in full bloom. Very beautiful gardens that are well maintained. It is FREE to enter until May 1. Highly recommend this botanical garden.
This has become a fun tradition for my best friend and I. The first one we came to was Alice in Wonderland and to this day, it’s my absolute favorite, but every year is over the top. There are so many beautiful displays. I can’t imagine how much time it must take to set everything up. There are food, vendors, some of the most amazing kettle corn, ice cream, adult beverages, a little bit of everything. On the way out there’s a mini donut vendor, you don’t wanna miss it. They are warm and delicious for the ride home. There was a beautiful young lady in the back, who was painting the inside of bottles to create a scene. You could buy Christmas ornaments, which I bought 2, A little tea pot, a bottle, all kinds of other fun things. It was incredible to watch her paint. Everything is hand painted on the inside of the glass, which is not only an insane talent, but imagine how much patience that it takes. The only negative I could say about this is the parking. The main lot fills quickly so you have to be bussed from a remote lot. That’s difficult when I’m bringing my 78-year-old mother. Aside from that, it’s one of our favorite fall excursions. We drive an hour from Chicago and it’s absolutely worth the drive.
