One of our favorite places in the Milwaukee area. Everything we've tried here has been delicious, and we have been many times. Since Taqwas is a bakery as well as a restaurant, it's no surprise that the bread is fantastic and the manakish may be our favorite thing to get, especially the zeit and zaatar version. We recommend getting many dishes to share and taking any leftovers home: spinach or cheese fatayer, baba ghannouj, hummus, and dawalee (stuffed grape leaves) are always among our selections. And make sure you save room for dessert so you can try the baklava (both the pistachio and the walnut versions are delicious). We also love the mint tea. The service is great and they do a good job of bringing out the food in waves so that there's always something on the table. It's a great space to go as a group too, since the tables are large and you can try more things that way. Pro tip: we once saw someone order a full bread to go at the end of their meal, which struck us as a genius idea and one we will likely copy at some point.

What a fantastic breakfast experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Every dish came out hot and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The staff made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an outstanding breakfast! Thank you

Absolutely delicious. My child and I split the mixed grill platter. I probably should have gotten a second order because she ate most of the rice and almost all of the chicken. The service was great. We took some pistachio baklava home for later because we were both too full to eat anymore. Every time they brought something out for a different table, I wanted to order more food. The restaurant is beautiful and lively; full of warm colors and music. Even the check came in a beautiful little box. I’m guessing it’s family run, which is always nice to see. If you’re near by, you should definitely stop in and also take some desserts to go on your way out.

This is by far the best Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant I’ve ever been to. The service, atmosphere, and food were all fantastic. I especially loved that the desserts weren’t overly sweet and had hints of rose or some other flavors. I’ve had plenty of baklavas drenched in syrup, so I’m so happy that I was able to find a good one! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Milwaukee.

Taqwa’s is the real deal!! First time here and I’m already thinking about when I’m coming back. This place has something valuable: genuine hospitality from an owner that actually cares. The owner and servers were warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in, the kind of vibe that just sets the tone for everything else. And then the food… absolutely amazing! The bread alone was delicious, homemade and baked in a wood-stone oven, perfect with some hummus, etc…arriving warm and fresh. We went for the mix plate, falafel, hummus, and tahini salad, and they all were a hit. The hummus was smooth and super delicious, the falafel had that perfect crispy shell with a fluffy inside, and was very authentic. The mix plate was the star. The chicken and beef shish were so tender and flavorful. Everything came out steaming hot too, which tells you they value quality service. If you’ve been thinking about Taqwa’s, its definitely worth it. It’s an easy yes. Plus support this family owned restaurant, you will not regret it!!
