We have had a great experience with Midwest Veterinary Specialists - Dr Bergh and staff were very professional and took care of our 9.5 year old cattle dog with the utmost care. She had TPLO surgery and is doing very well - their professionalism and level of communication has been fantastic. They gave our pup a very high level of individualized attention. Our pup is very stubborn and timid - the staff managed to get her to warm up to them more than I've seen at other vet clinics. The team's process is extremely dialed in - we received timely updates shortly after the procedure and additional updates when there was a staff handoff for overnight monitoring. The overnight team was very detailed and familiar with our dog's unique preferences. This is our third CCL procedure between our two dogs - the first TPLO procedure - it is clear that the team specializes in knee CCL recoveries - they offered us a suite of vetted products to ensure a controlled rehabilitation process and we are extremely grateful for how detailed their protocol is. This feels like a concierge surgical process compared to our past procedures - our past procedures went well but we figured out some of the details on our own. The fact that they took the time to find the best products to ensure quality wound and movement management during recovery is extremely appreciated - and lessened our stress around the process. We cannot say thank you enough!

We were very nervous about putting our pup through TPLO surgery, but the entire process ended up being so much better than we anticipated. The best part is seeing how wonderfully he’s healing — watching him walk without a limp now makes us incredibly grateful we chose to move forward with the surgery. Dr. Dearmin and the entire nursing staff were absolutely wonderful. They made us feel supported every step of the way and helped ease so many of my anxieties throughout the process. My 135-lb 10 year old dog gets acupuncture and physical therapy due to arthritis and other hind leg issues. Dr Parnell is excellent, takes time to explain what’s going on. I worked with Orrie on the PT team, and she is excellent as well. Administrative team at from desk is personable and very competent and efficient.

This clinic worked with me to rehab my dog Bandit, who had a soft tissue injury to his shoulder. It was a long but successful journey. Bandit is now running agility and competing in hunt tests with no further lameness. Thank you to all the staff who reminded me again and again to be patient and take it slow.

We had the pleasure of working with both Dr. Dearmin and the rehabilitation team last year. Our husky had a minor CCL tear which caused her to limp after running. She was an unusual case, as the injury was minor and persistent but wasn't worsening. We first navigated non-invasive options (strict rest, rehabilitation, laser therapy, water treadmill) with hopes of avoiding surgery but she regressed every time she returned to high impact activity. We met with Dr. Dearmin several times before we decided to go through with a TPLO with arthroscopy. Had we known the process would be so stress-free at Midwest, we would have done it sooner! Dr. Dearmin is very intelligent and friendly. We wish he was our regular vet. The vet techs were so sweet with our dog and took great care of her overnight (which was a huge relief to us). I thought it was cute that they take graduation photos and post them on Instagram. The rehab team is just as awesome. For all of our worries, the surgery and immediate recovery period was so much less stressful than we expected. She "graduated" in the beginning of January and is finally back to running off leash. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend Midwest Veterinary Specialists for TPLO.
