Park with softball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, and walking paths
I visited Konkel Park for the Farmer's Market. While small the Market offered a variety of goods from vegetables, breads, pies, honey, maple syrup and a variety of beverages ☕️. I visited early to try to avoid heat and crowds, which worked. I observed that the park had grills and paths for walkers and bikes with lots of trees. If it weren't so hot I would have explored more. The Farmer's Market was worth it.
The park is deceptive. From Layton Ave. it appears to be just another small, Urban park but that is simply not the case. This park runs deep. There are 2 softball diamonds and a batting cage, sand volleyball courts, multiple standing exercise units, multiple children play areas, multiple picnic areas, an amphitheater and a lot of walking paths. For the zombies (walkers such as myself) the paths through the park range from urban type (baseball field and picnic areas) to fairly rural (a large marsh area). It is all paved and mostly flat; what inclines exist are relatively minor and should not impede any serious walker. There is an interesting stretch of path through the marsh area where the path is a series of long wooden bridges and there are multiple bridges elsewhere in the park. Walking the trails once is roughly equivalent to doing the Brookfield Square walk twice.
Love this park, Sundays they have the market.
Took a Belly Dance class here through Greenfield Rec. It was so fun. The ladies made it awesome and are so welcoming.
I've been here for great concerts. However, I just discovered the park entire park. I parked at the south end. I was amazed walking though to the amphitheatre. The landscaping was impressive. There are many trees, meadows, walking paths which appealed to my spirit. There's much, much for "boys and girls of all ages".
