Haven’t been here since it was Top Shelf. We had tickets to an event later that evening, so we stopped in early for some food and drinks and sat at the bar. Our bartender was initially very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately the experience changed after one of our meals came out incorrectly. My husband ordered the Pit Boss Platter, which is described on the menu as: “The ultimate smokehouse meal featuring six smoked wings, smoked brisket or smoked pulled pork mac n cheese, sweet corn & cornbread.” When his meal arrived, he was only given the BBQ pork mac n cheese. I asked where the wings and sides were, and the bartender went to the kitchen to check. She came back and told us the owner said the platter does not come with wings. I asked if the owner could come out and explain that to us, since the menu very clearly lists the wings AND sides as part of the platter. Instead, a tray of wings was brought out and essentially tossed in front of us with the comment that the wings would “just be on the house.” The issue is, we weren’t asking for anything extra—we were simply expecting to receive everything that was listed as part of the meal we ordered. When we received the bill, we were charged for the full Pit Boss Platter, yet we still hadn’t received the sides that were listed with it. I completely understand that they were extremely busy, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect to pay for what you actually receive. After some back-and-forth and quite a bit of attitude, a few dollars were eventually taken off the bill, and we paid rather than continue arguing. Unfortunately, after that interaction, the bartender seemed to have no interest in serving us, so we ended up getting our drinks from other bartenders for the remainder of the evening. The food we actually received was fantastic, which makes the situation even more disappointing. Mistakes happen, especially when a restaurant is busy, but how they are handled makes a huge difference. Arguing with a customer about what is clearly listed on the menu and then treating the missing portion of the meal as though it were a complimentary extra left a pretty sour impression. Unfortunately, based on the experience and the way the situation was handled, I’m not sure we’ll be back.
