Old-style stone house with a patio for draft beer and Irish pub grub
Loved taking my son here, Reubens are the best around imo. I also appreciate a restaurant that hosts live music. One thing I'd like to see them take care of is the broken taller chairs in the back room. Some of them were missing the foot rest and my 6yr old son went to stand up expecting it to be there and fell hard onto the hardwood floor. He was a little banged up but ok.
Lowest for the atmosphere on this one. It was overcrowded and incredibly loud. Only had high-top tables to sit for dinner. I put this at four stars instead of only three because it WAS Saturday night, however the traffic flow and seating leave a bit to be desired. Now the service. Our server was just wonderful. She was right there asking if we needed things, refilling beverages without needing to be asked, and remained pleasant throughout our dinner even though it was so crowded and difficult for her to move between tables. I think her name was Amanda. We were the table where I had tell my friend to put her phone down and pay attention to her, and then her and her husband complained the fries were cold. She took it all in stride. People - show your servers some respect and pay attention to them when they're trying to take your order. You have no one to blame but yourself if it's wrong when delivered to the table. I thought the food was great. One had Shephard's Pie, one had the Fried Chicken, one ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip and then had the Dublin Doubler, and I ordered the Mozzarella Sticks then had the Traditional Reuben. The Shephard's Pie was rated an alright, the chicken as good, the Dublin Doubler was rated as tasty and an interesting combination, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Traditional Reuben. Brisket corned beef cut thick but not overly thick, with just the right amount of other ingredients for that perfect balance of flavors. Both of us with sammies got the tots and thoguht they were awesome. Very crunchy outside, while side inside, and just a little seasoning so they weren't overwhelming nor just plain potatoes. The mozzarella sticks are really good. I am a huge fan plain wonton sticks with a good marinara for dipping. These hit the mark. And SO crunchy. I didn't need to be told the spinach and artichoke dip was good because they damn near licked the dish it was so clean. Do I put O'Donoghue's in the "WOW! You GOTTA go there!" category. No. But I will certainly go there again - not on a Saturday - and try other tasty-looking items. And I do recommend for good Irish pub food when you're looking for somewhere different to try.
4th time here and I know its a welcoming, friendly place. Its one of the few places where the owner still says hello checks on patrons during their meal. I stopped by for a beer and maybe something to eat after having a job interview nearby. Great beer variety with a mix of Irish, local, German and a few standards. I went for a pub steak and cheese as comfort food. Grilled fresh, awesome peppers and onions with the right balance on a roll. I was curious what Jamie's sauce was so they gave me a sample which I threw on my grinder. A little spicy kick but not overwhelming. The combo was perfect. As I finished my final bites, the owner checked on me. Bartenders were busy and gave me a moment to settle in before asking if I was helped yet. I look forward to being in the area again. Great place for small to medium parties, small to medium gathering with friends or just a single guy like myself.
Second time here. Food is exceptional!!! The appetizer of homemade pub chips & dip is addicting!! I could eat that every day! I had the avocado fried chicken wrap & it was delicious! Big enough to take half home for dinner the next night. Onion rings are mid & their iced tea tastes fishy….super weird but it’s not good. Parking is sparse but can park across the street too!
This was my 3rd visit in the last 10 years... It was every bit as good as my first two times! I was greeted when I walked in, seated quickly and my waitress was "on her job!" My meal came out surprisingly quick and was very hot when it arrived. Possibly the best Chicken Pot Pie I've ever had... My Key Lime Pie appeared a little small, but I have to admit, it was so rich and delicious, I couldn't have eaten any more had it been any bigger! Friendly atmosphere, friendly staff! Prices were fair for a very good meal!
