Informal hotel with free hot breakfast, a bar/restaurant, and an indoor pool
This place was totally fine! Other reviews we read about made us nervous, but there were no big issues. We stayed one night. Room, sheets and towels were clean, water was hot for two people to shower, door locks worked, staff were nice! Only thing we couldn’t figure out was how to get the WiFi to work. They don’t have breakfast they give you a coupon for %15 off at ihop. The pool still isn’t available.
If your travel baseball team is forced to stay here for a "Stay to Play" tournament at The Rock, congratulations! You are about to pay premium prices to be treated like an absolute nuisance by a management team whose primary passion is doing as little work as humanly possible. Our luxury experience began within five minutes of arrival. After hauling a mountain of gear up to the 5th floor, we discovered our room keys didn’t work. This wasn’t a solo glitch—the hallway was a full-blown block party of multiple stranded baseball families waiting for a functional piece of plastic. Efficient! But the crown jewel of this resort is the pool. If you Google this hotel, the very first picture is an amazing pool. When you arrive, you’ll see that exact pool! It’s full of clear water, the pumps are running, and it looks pristine—but it’s guarded by a sacred "Out of Order" sign. According to past reviews, it’s been "broken" since early June. When we checked in on Thursday afternoon, the staff literally laughed when we asked if it would open. After hearing a carousel of different excuses, one employee finally spilled the truth: they just shut it down on tournament weekends because they don't want to deal with baseball families. Truly an elite business strategy. Pay to be a mandatory tournament hotel, then lock the main amenity all summer because you’re too lazy to monitor it. It was a 16u/17u tournament, so there were no rowdy little kids—just completely bored younger siblings. It was so bad that during our downtime, I literally watched a desperate, soul-crushed kid who had found a random green plastic Easter egg on the grounds, walking around putting it in different spots to take pictures of it because there was absolutely nothing else to do. Peak summer entertainment. Don't worry, the disappointment carries over into the morning. The promised "free breakfast" is actually just a 15% off coupon to the attached IHOP. This establishment was being heroically run by exactly one server. After an eternity, our food arrived—minus any silverware. When we finally tracked her down five minutes later so our pancakes wouldn’t completely freeze, she gave us massive attitude, seemingly offended that we preferred not to eat syrup with our bare hands. If you prefer to skip the IHOP drama, you can visit the hotel snack market, which brilliantly captures the aesthetic of an 8-foot section of a low-rate 7-Eleven that was abandoned in 2012. If you love paying full price for zero amenities, broken keys, and hostile service, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, stay literally anywhere else.
Wish it was at least worth the money but it was not. After checking in and experiencing issues I read reviews. There are alot of the same we experienced. The pool and hot tub appear to be in perfect working order but we were told it was closed due to maintenance. Reading reviews, this has been the standard answer for the better part of a year. At this point it should be false advertising. Other then given a room that had people already in it. The rest of the issues were minor but the amount of them was the biggest issue. Lots of them.
In between our moving process of switching homes, me and my husband and our three-year-old daughter and his two teenagers stayed in the hotel for five nights, and 6 days. Kristen was fantastic, she made everything so easy and helped us in so many ways she made the whole experience of staying at Holiday Inn worth it and amazing for us. We appreciated her so much for doing all she had done for us. I definitely recommend staying in this hotel. The rooms are clean and the service is good. The pool is heated and amazingly warm. It’s a great place to take a nice relaxing dip in the pool and have some family time. I will definitely be back hopefully Kristen will be there to meet us because she is a great manager and deserves all the rewards that she can get.
Decent hotel, clean and well located. As with other reviewers, I had the nearly same experience with no hot water. Seems to be a perpetual issue. If I had to stay in the area again, I would not stay here. I asked the manager for a partial refund because of the water issue. They worked with Expedia, which I booked them through, and I did receive it within a few days. Nice, but didn’t make up for the cool shower my wife and I had to take. The rest of the building was very warm, the lobby, the pool area (which also was not open due to “maintenance” - never saw anyone working on it, and the water was obviously clean and the filters were working, but whatever), even the attached restaurant was uncomfortably warm. That should not happen . . . Overall, a disappointing stay. I had higher expectations for a hotel that I paid more than $250 a night for. Definitely not worth it.
