An awesome place for a walk with a partner, friend or dog. Nice trails, well marked and beautiful scenery. A lot of history and information about Wisconsin, the wildlife and the fauna. This year brought a bit of disappointment in the form of what they might call conservation or forestry management but looks more like devastation and clear cutting instead. While the thought process of what was done most likely was to benefit the younger tree growth and remove old growth trees to promote it, it looks like the tree removal process was given to the lowest bidder that chose to clear cut in order to harvest the most usable trees the fastest. I don't doubt that in years to come there will be a beautiful forest of trees where barren landscape sits now and old trails that no longer provide wonderful scenery and views will regain their beauty. Before they began harvesting and clear cutting volunteers worked very hard to restore many trails that went thru the forest that now just go thru cut down trees and foliage including the young trees that supposedly they were making room for growth for. For me, my wife and our dogs we sadly won't live long enough to see it grow back to what it once was. Enjoy the small fraction of available trails that are left and hope that the untouched area near the maple syrup camp doesn't befall the same destruction. It was a beautiful place to visit every few days, lets see if we can prevent them from managing what doesn't seem to require what they think they are managing.
