About

Baileys Harbor Lower Range light is a historical landmark in Baileys Harbor. We feature an active Coast Guard navigational tool within The Ridges Sanctuary, a biologically diverse ecosystem with over 500 plant species. Our property is home to the Lower Range Light, alongside the Upper Range Light, which we offer tours of, showing where light keepers lived for decades. We also have miles of hiking trails, including boardwalk areas.

The Ridges Sanctuary is mine and my wife's "happy place." 1600 acres of pristine boreal forest and miles of hiking trails located on Baileys Harbor, WI. The Upper and Lower Range Lights highlight this area and feature these active Coast Guard historical navigational tools. The Ridges has over 500 species of plants, 25 species of native orchids, 60 species of birds and is located on Baileys Harbor on Lake Michigan. Walking in this Sanctuary will bring you closer to nature and God.

Peaceful and educational visit. There was a super nice lady at the old lighthouse keeper home. Back then, they used newspaper to insulate homes. Highly recommend a visit, whether young or old.

Gorgeous and I've never hiked a boardwalk area before. There are trails off of it but if just wanted to stay on the boardwalk, there's plenty for you to see and do.

Bailey's Harbor Lower(white building with a red light) and upper Range Lights (tan building/red roof with white lights) was a surprise find within The Ridges Sanctuary. We were lucky enough to find the upper Range House open for tours. We got to see where the light keepers had lived for decades. This is a unique must see stop if you are interested in Light houses, Range Lights and the history behind them all.

Such a cute little light right off the road! We loved looking at this light and then walking down the board walk to look at the Upper range light. We also walked around on the trails in the surrounding area for a while. So beautiful! I would recommend bug spray though! It had recently rained and we were getting swarmed by flies and mosquitos!
