An open and affirming church community in Appleton
When we started having kids we were looking for a church that taught Christian values and where we could feel comfortable as a same sex couple. The minute we heard the message at First Congressional we knew we had found our place! Every week we leave feeling more hopeful about the world around us. The message is that of unity, love, and joy. I could not ask for a better church for our kids and our family.
I joined the Church because when they say "We are the Church of the Open Door". They mean it. I feel safe with my Church Family, the Pastor's are both awesome. The Sanctuary is the prettiest ever. They offer streaming Sunday services which is great when you can't be there in person.
The music is exceptional. The theology resonates with me and with my beliefs. The sermons are thought provoking. Pastor Katherine is exceptional.
Beautiful Church full of beautiful people. First church I've been inside in a very long time. First time in a church that I truly felt welcome and appreciated. As a member of the LGBTQ Community it is so important to find a welcoming place to grow your relationship with God. The congregation is open and affirming. They will truly make you feel very welcome and valued. I can't say enough about the amazing positive experiences I have had here the few times I went. Truly an inspiration to other churches. True Christians worship here.
We shopped for a church and found a home. My husband says it's like going to a concert every week because the music is wonderful and the singers are so talented. The preachers are inspiring and the parishioners are welcoming. It's been home for ten years now.
