Q is a legend and his food is incredible! We’ve been here a week and eaten here almost every night! Curries are so full of flavour and everything is fresh - especially liked the massaman and Panang curries! We’ve tried loads of the menu though and it’s all been unreal - Thai salads, pork tenderloin, always delicious! Lovely people, great food, good price, what’s not to like. 😍 😍 😍
We got recommended this restaurant from a nearby coffee shop owner and it did not disappoint. The food was honestly the best we have had in Thailand on this trip. We had the Thai red chicken curry so creamy and a lot of chicken and vegetables, Thai prawn omelette, pak buun ( morning glory) and the deep fried fish with Thai tamarin sauce and som tum. It’s a homely little place run by husband and wife the husband is the chef, it was busy with locals as well so you know it’s good. If in Koh mak you must try the Q bar
This was the best restaurant in the whole of Thailand, including Bangkok. We stumbled upon this place on a random night and ordered pad sew, massaman roti and red curry paste. Literally moth watering! Excellent service, clean, and airy. Cute little cat. We came again the day after! 😂 and I’m certain we will come back a 3rd time in a matter of 4 days in total before leaving this island.
This is not just the best food we have eaten in Koh Mak....this is THE BEST FOOD WE HAVE EATEN IN THAILAND!!! Q is such a talented chef. The balance of flavours between sweet, sour, and spicy are perfect. Now, I am not the biggest vegetable fan (embarrassing for a 36 year old I know 😅) but I found myself going back to Q's delicious oyster vegetables. The curries are creamy and spicy, and great to mop up the sauce with the light and crispy roti. And then the noodles were packed full of flavour, with jumbo prawns, crunchy vegetables, and the occasional kick of spice from the fresh Chilli's. Me and my partner honestly could not recommend this restaurant enough. Amazing food, reasonably priced, and Q is an absolute gentleman. We will return to Koh Mak even if it was just for this food ❤️
The food was delicious and well prepared. The restaurant was being run by one man and service was slow but worth it. We visited prior to busy season. The chef spoke English well. Very rich and delicious green curry. Stir fried morning glory was excellent. Seafood yum was delicious with a good mix of seafood including octopus/squid, fish and shrimp. The pad thai was also very good. Each item was made with care and worth the wait. Main dishes cost from 100 - 250 Thai Baht. The restaurant is small and open air with a number of well behaved cats making it their home. There was a video playing a reggae song on repeat in the background that was OK but repetitive since we were there a long time. There was also a loud hissing noise coming from the kitchen for most of the time we were there. All that being said the food was the star and the chef was kind and friendly. This restaurant is worth a visit if you can relax and have the time.
