Amazing hidden gem in Koh Mak. The staff is very friendly. The bungalows are great. The owner is such a lovely person. Ask for recommendations and you won't get disappointed!

I am writing this at the end of my second stay at Hidden Beach. The first time we extended by 2 nights. This time we added 2 nights. This place is really special. 10 or so bungalows with a bar/quiet restaurant set on an otherwise empty beach. The bungalows itself are wonderful. Powerful AC, clean nice bathroom and shower, a comfortable big bed, and a huge porch with a paradisiacal view. You can open the window shades and enjoy the full ceiling to floor windows while in the cool AC if that’s your thing, or have a large open space to yourself in the sun elevated from the sand. The beach itself is beautiful and just steps away from any bungalow. It’s harder to find people on the beach than the find an alone quiet spot around here. Truly special. Koh Mak itself is great too. A laid back island that never gets too loud or crowded with a selection of great restaurants and beaches. No huge nightlife, respectful tourists, and warm locals. Also Jake is the man, he will take care of whatever you need.

Hidden Beach is a very special place. It’s not a five star cookie cutter resort where you’re going to have every type of egg cooked 100 ways on tap 24/7. What is it then? It’s a small collection of bungalows hung around a community bar that does food from 11(ish) to 5(ish) most days. That food is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend the big breakfast plate — my bread was substituted for a roti (go me!) and the stuffed green peppers were a highlight. The chicken thighs and coconut rice was another highlight too. If you get peckish when the kitchen is closed then the kind reception staff will arrange to have something local delivered. Sylvia helped organise a deep fried banana with coconut ice cream at 9pm at night. This is what holidays are made of. I didn’t rent a moped, although Hidden Beach have them to rent, so instead I spent my days lounging on a chair by the bar reading my book and chatting easily to the passerbys. I made lots of friends while I was there. Hidden Beach is great for a solo traveller like me that has graduated from hostels but still wants to meet people. The bungalows are thoughtfully furnished with beautiful wooden finish and the beds face the ocean, so you have that gorgeous sea view when you wake. In a world of everything available all the time, Hidden Beach does provide a bit of friction. And I liked that. Hidden Beach isn’t for everyone. But it is for me.

The most beautiful beach we’ve been to — truly crystal-blue water and a super easy, comfortable entry into the sea. Don’t miss it! The smoothies are delicious too 🤍 You can literally sit in the water and enjoy a beer. We rented a kayak (500 baht per kayak) and paddled to a small island where they charge 100 baht per person for entry. Just keep in mind that kayaking can be challenging on windy days — we’re both in good shape and still found it tough.

We spent three nights here and it was simply wonderful. The cottages have a fantastic view of the sea. Hidden Beach is tucked away from everything, surrounded by nature and very peaceful. There is a great, relaxed atmosphere. Jake and all the staff are very friendly and helpful; you immediately feel comfortable and at home. The bay and the sea are very calm, you can rent kayaks, go squid fishing or just chill out in a hammock or at the bar. Now in November and December, it is high tide during the day and you can swim wonderfully, as the low tide only sets in in the evening and especially at night. In March and April, it is apparently the other way round, or so we were told. It is really far away from everything, so you have to rely on a scooter, which you can rent directly at Hidden Beach, or you can walk to the restaurants on the island (at least 30 minutes). But it was precisely because of the location and tranquillity that we chose Hidden Beach and would book it again anytime!
