I really enjoyed my stay at Kinnaree. There’s a number of unhelpful reviews here. So let’s give this a pragmatic review so you can make a decision. What is it about this place? It’s the location. It’s the privacy. It’s the quiet. It’s the nature. It’s the beauty. Manage your expectations this is a 2 star resort. But it is a really nice place to stay if you like the idea of your own bungalow on the coast on Koh Kut in Thailand. The staff are brilliant. The lady at the front desk was amazingly helpful and the cleaners were really nice. If you’re unsure about anything just ask at reception. If you can’t speak Thai then use Google Lens. Motorbike hire is easy and advised as Koh Kut is a pleasure to drive around and there is much to see. The location on the island is close to many restaurants, coffee places and beaches. The bungalows are a little outdated. But this is a 2 star resort. It has that nice family run resort feel to it. The bungalows are private and arranged so you can say hello to neighbours but everyone has their private space. The bed was comfortable. There was a soft and a hard pillow. The air-con works well, there is a fridge and a clothing rack and spare cloths hangers if needed. The resort feels safe and I had no worries with valuables in my room. The room was cleaned when I asked. Drinking water was supplied. The bathroom is functional and clean. The road on the way in isn’t paved but a slow and careful ride makes it nice and easy. There’s a nice balcony and a place to dry clothes and you can sit there and watch the world go by. There is a lovely view from the bungalows and the rocks near the sea. Sunset is really rather gorgeous here. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful and there is non-stop coffee available. WIFI is ok. But you didn’t come all this way to sit on your phone right? 😊 I couldn’t swim during my time on Koh Kut but other guests said the swimming here is great. There are masks and snorkels at reception and the local diving boats stop daily at the little island next to the resort. So there’s something great out there. That’s for next time. There’s lots more places available on the island. Personally I have found a favourite on Koh Kut 🤩 A few practical things worth mentioning: - The deterrent for moths/mosquitoes the resort use in the rooms is equivalent to moth balls. They have a very strong chemical smell. You can ask for these small white tablets to be removed for your stay and you can buy air fresheners at local shops. - The rooms don’t have small lamps. Just ask for one at reception. - If there’s no cushion on the outside chair. Just ask for one. - Cleaning happens when you ask for it. Not automatically. - The rooms and bathrooms are a little outdated but they are clean and comfy and you can relax and soak up the view. - I advise getting some mosquito coils for the balcony, especially if it has rained. Same again local shops/supermarkets have all you need.
