Making Unit 2 Feel Like Home in Zinkwazi

Finding Our Spot

It was really fortunate how we got Unit 2 @ Place of The Eagle. The previous owner had already renovated the kitchen and even left some home appliances.

It was in pretty good condition, so we didn't have to do too many big renovations to get it ready for guests.

Embracing the Beach Life

We really wanted to make the place feel like a true beach house, especially since we're right across from the beach. You can walk over the road and have your feet in the sand within two minutes.

We aimed for a summer beach house vibe, something made for families. We used whitewashed walls, lots of blues, and sandy colors.

This same decor extended to the bedding and accessories, all to show people this is a proper beach house.

Our First Guests

Our very first guests were actually some family friends. We wanted to do a soft opening with them to make sure everything was just right.

They gave us honest feedback, both about what they enjoyed and things we could work on. It was a great learning experience for us, getting ready to welcome guests from Airbnb or locally.

It helped us understand the process for when someone eventually booked with us.

Special Touches for Families

The feedback from our family friends really highlighted how special our location is. Being so close to the beach is a big draw, especially for families with small children.

We also get a lot of positive comments about the complex's public pool area. It's a sanctuary for families.

After a day at the beach, kids can still burn off energy at the pool, while adults can relax, listen to music, and chat while keeping an eye on them. It really creates a family-friendly environment.

A Perfect Zinkwazi Morning

For families with young kids who wake up early, there's so much to do nature-wise right here. We have the Black Rock Park directly across the road.

Kids can throw or kick a ball around there, and it leads straight to the beach access. You can walk for hundreds of meters in either direction, enjoying views of the subtropical forest and dunes.

Beyond the beach, there are also the Zinkwazi forest trails, which are suitable for small children. On the Lala forest palm trail, there's even a pair of crowned eagles nesting.

Up the road, Zinkwazi Lagoon Lodge offers amenities like paddle boats and a mini putt-putt golf course. They also have a nice restaurant for coffee or breakfast.

The main beach is where everyone gathers for a day in the sun, close to the lagoon. Small kids can play in the shallows, with their nets or fishing.
