I visited the Neelsie about 10 days ago with my student daughter, and I absolutely loved the vibe! Everything needed by a student is there: workplaces with laptop plugs, a Kwikspar for groceries or food, a travel agent, a bookshop for textbooks or leisure reading, lots of restaurants and coffee shops, and even a cinema! Highly recommended 👏 💯 😊

The location of Neelsie Student Centre parking is convenient, but the pricing feels completely unreasonable for students who commute in. The tariff jump is especially unfair: 5-6 hours is R70, but 6-9 hours jumps to R200. That kind of increase is exorbitant and effectively punishes anyone who needs to park for a normal university day. It comes across as gouging students - particularly commuters who are already trying to manage costs and can’t afford to live in Stellenbosch. Neelsie should seriously reconsider the structure of these fees and introduce better pricing and a student discount.
