Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the service I received at the UIF office while attempting to update my banking details on my application. This was my first time visiting the office, and I was unsure of the correct procedure. Upon arrival at approximately 14:00, I approached staff and security for assistance and clearly explained that I had already completed my application online and only needed to update my banking details. I was directed to stand in the registration line, despite informing the staff member that I did not need to register again. I trusted the guidance provided and waited in the line for a significant amount of time. Later, after noticing signage indicating that enquiries would close at 15:30, I again sought clarification. Only then was I informed that I had been standing in the incorrect line and that the relevant section had already closed for the day. I was told to return the following day. What is most concerning is not the waiting time, but the lack of proper communication, guidance, and professionalism. I relied on staff instructions, yet was misdirected and ultimately unable to receive assistance. Additionally, when I attempted to explain my situation to the manager, my concerns were dismissed. I felt that I was not being listened to, as there was little engagement, no eye contact, and no effort made to understand or resolve my issue. I believe that staff placed in client-facing roles should be equipped to provide accurate information and basic assistance, especially for individuals unfamiliar with the process. I kindly request that this matter be reviewed, and that steps be taken to improve communication and client service to prevent similar situations from happening to others.
I went there for my Maternity claim yesterday (Wednesday) and I really have to say that their service is good. Maternity and old people claims (60+) gets helped first, you can just go in. Call the call centre and make sure that you have the right documents, then the process is easy and fast. I was there for an hour. The staff is very helpful. Thank you labour centre Paarl.
Very very !!!! poor service and bad I'm here right now and lot of people I been send back they said they are helping people that are 60 years old and pregnant but there not many people here
The Department of Labour in Paarl is an absolute disgrace! My wife and I had to be there at 05:00 in the morning—not because they open early (they only open at 07:30), but because the service is so horrendous that people are forced to arrive hours before opening just to have a chance at being helped. And guess what? Even after being there before sunrise, she only got inside the building at 11:07! This is proof that our TAX money is being looted because there is zero efficiency, zero support, and zero accountability at this branch. Why should citizens have to suffer because the system is completely broken? How is it possible that in over six hours, they could not process enough people to move the queue at a reasonable pace? People are struggling in this country, and the one department that should be helping is instead wasting everyone’s time. If you need assistance, be prepared to lose an entire day of your life standing outside like an afterthought. Government incompetence at its finest!
