A little oasis perfectly situated on the fringes of Montagu. Darlene is an absolute treasure with a bubbly fun personality and very helpful in guiding you with restaurants and things to do. Rooms were spacious and very clean. We loved the steam shower and spa bath in the room.

Beautiful property just outside of town and great spot to spend the night. Fabulous views from the water tank cottage and pool.

A Hidden Gem in Montagu – Perfect for a Peaceful Couples Retreat We had such a lovely stay at Montagu Little Sanctuary! From the moment I first inquired, Darlene, the owner, was warm, welcoming, and incredibly kind — truly a lovely soul who makes you feel right at home. The property itself is beautifully laid out, with so many serene viewpoints, peaceful courtyards, and hidden nooks to relax in. We stayed at Eagle’s Nest, which is tucked away at the top of the property, right beside a natural spring pool. It’s private, tranquil, and surrounded by nature — perfect for a romantic escape. While the décor may be a little dated, it adds to the rustic charm, and everything you need is provided. It's fully self-catering, which we appreciated. One of the highlights was that our booking included complimentary access to Avalon Hot Springs — a real bargain and part of why we booked. Unfortunately, Avalon itself was a letdown as the pools were cold, not hot, but this wasn’t a reflection on Montagu Little Sanctuary. The only issue we encountered was a minor plumbing concern in the bathroom, which we mentioned to Darlene. We also loved that this is an adults-only accommodation — ideal for couples looking to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy some peace and quiet. All in all, it was a peaceful and memorable stay. We’d absolutely return — this place is a true hidden gem in Montagu!
