Historic country hotel with lush grounds and elegant dining
Lovely place. Nice art deco vibe. Central location. The room was comfortable, huge (maybe a bit too much) bathroom. We stayed in the "old" building which has very nice pieces of art deco furniture, as well as the room. Gives a cosy feeling.
Montagu itself is a complete hidden gem. It's clean, isolated, beautiful and has everything you could need in terms of shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel is just the same and one of the best places I've stayed. The rooms are well equipped, the restaurant feels upmarket, yet staff are very welcoming and the environment feels almost homely. It has a very nice bar and they serve great beer on tap (including craft beer, if I recall), as well as most cocktails. The best part for me is the value for money. For how nice the hotel and what they offer is, it's not expensive at all. I'll be returning as soon as possible!
We stayed for 2 nights in the African hut. It was perfect for the 2 of us and our 3yo daughter. The room is large and spacious enough that we could sit on one side of it once she’d gone to sleep. Bathroom large (bath and showers). There’s a lovely garden outside which my daughter enjoyed and it was close to the main building (but still very private). The staff were lovely - brought dinner to our room in the evening as we could not go to the restaurant. Everyone incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding. The hotel is well located and the parking easy and secure. The bar great for drinks and light food. Would love to return and try the spa if we had some childcare! Thanks for a really lovely few days
Had Sunday lunch at the Montagu Country Hotel today. The price is reasonable, the servings very generous and the food delicious! Sitting in the beautiful garden was an added bonus! Would definitely recommend it.
As soon as you walk through the door you are welcomed with smiles and kindness. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge area and dining area are stunning. The packed breakfast to go was delicious and refreshing. The gardens are beautiful. My room was spacious and comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer.
