Interesting menu with not so conventional options, which are great. We had grilled halloumi and arancini starters , well presented and lovely ( if I must add the arancini were a tad over deep fried but still lovely) Mains we had the risotto , unusually made with barley ( me being Italian!) but really enjoyed it. The other main was the tagliatelle with artichoke, it lacked seasoning being quite bland unfortunately. Our hostess Jolene was outstanding, overall a good evening

We were pleasantly surprised to discover this little gem. Coming from Cape Town, where restaurants are often overpriced and underwhelming, this was a refreshing change. The service and food were both excellent. We especially appreciated the wide variety of plant-based options, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Every dish was beautifully presented, and the flavours were outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, making the experience even more memorable. We had a wonderful meal and would happily return.

I can only speak for myself as my partner had a wonderful meal and probably would rate this experience different. Venison carpaccio - acidity level 100, pomegranate, beetroot and venison acidic level way off, humus or pure gone unnoticed unfortunately. I recommend normal Carpaccio, Parmesan, olive oil, balsamic and then a cracker or toasted bread toe carry everything. Chicken crumbed burger - lacks flavour and salt. You need some kind of chipotle or mayo mustard sauce in moderation to complete this dish. Unfortunately the fries that came with the burger were fried way too long, it almost became see through, soaking up oil, resulting in very unsatisfying eating experience. I ordered new fries. Btw - I only ordered the burger and chips too not be disappointed again after the starter 🤣 Lastly, there was 1 waiter for the whole restaurant. She was great, but I could see other tables getting frustrated. Anyways, not bad but a bit disappointed with this one tbh.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with the warmest welcome and genuinely attentive service that made us feel instantly at home. The food was nothing short of impeccable. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully balanced, but a few stood out as real highlights: the baby marrow and mint soup was delicate yet full of flavour, the venison croquettes were rich and perfectly textured, and the ceviche was fresh, vibrant, and expertly done. However, the absolute showstopper came right at the start; the homemade aniseed bread served warm with butter at the table. Simple, comforting, and unforgettable, it set the tone for an exceptional meal. 22 Church Street is a place where passion for food and hospitality is felt in every detail. An experience we’ll be thinking about for a long time and one we cannot recommend highly enough.

22 Church Street Restaurant is a small, cozy spot with a really nice atmosphere. The food was good, especially the steak, which was perfectly cooked. The starter was a little salty, but it tasted great with the bread. We found out that our waitress had a child, so we gave her a small gift we brought from overseas. Even so, after we’d already paid the service fee, she asked why we didn’t tip her directly. When we left, she didn’t even say goodbye, which honestly put a damper on what had been a good day. I originally thought this would be a restaurant I wanted to visit again, but this experience has made me reconsider.
