This restaurant is outstanding. Every dish was exceptional, flavour combinations with twists and simplicity balanced perfectly. The wine pairing is a perfect compliment to the culinary journey. Staff and service was impeccable, and atmosphere is fine dining but relaxed with a stylish ambiance. Coming from London and having eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants this blew our expectations out the water and would rank in the top 3 meals of our lives. Exceptionally special experience the day after our wedding.

The only restaurant that had available tables when called for reservations for 2. Eaten at plenty of restaurants in Franschhoek and I must say this was the first one I felt was underwhelming. Dessert was so tiny and squished together that it was difficult to separate in order to taste the different elements. The tuna dish was below average. The fish dish lacked flavour. The only item that had the most flavour for me was the childhood memory.

This is an excellent restaurant that I highly recommend. The service is outstanding - attentive, friendly, and professional. The dishes are beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, made with great attention to detail and quality. What truly sets this place apart is how well they consider individual preferences; the staff goes above and beyond to accommodate personal requests. Everything is done at the highest level, making the entire dining experience exceptional.

A very big thank you to the staff and Chefs at Protege who made our 27th wedding anniversary dinner so special. I have celiac disease and a shellfish allergy, I contacted the restaurant beforehand to ask if they could accommodate my dietary requirements. I was assured they could. We had the spring menu and the food was so beautifully presented, little delicate works of art. Each ingredient carefully chosen and matched to perfection. The service was impeccable. We even had a box of chocolates with a happy anniversary note. So blown away and this is a dinner I won't forget in a long time. Ps...thst smoked mash and gluten-free bread..wow.
