Fitness club in Stellenbosch with functional training, cycling, yoga, and Pilates
The most overcrowded gym I have experienced! Waiting to use a single machine feels as difficult as ordering a drink in a crowded bar. The gym seriously needs to limit it's members or increase it's floor space because gyming here is a horrible experience
The ladies lockers are amazing and comfortable in comparison to other virgin active gyms. A stand out feature was the upholstered couches in the vanity area and the padlock-free lockers, which operated with a pin you choose.
Upstairs by free weights always smells terrible. Always super crowded - over capacity for sure. Always at least one machine broken. Ladies lockers always malfunctioning. Personal trainers take up too many machines. Dirty floors especially in yoga room. The men never use sweat towels. The music is too loud and personally very bad and annoying - everyone wears earphones anyways. The pool is badly placed (get splashed when I use the machinery nearby). There is always something dripping water from the ceiling in the bench press area of the gym. Considering this is one of very few gyms in Stellenbosch, virgin active needs to hear these complaints (which have been made by many).
Went from 5 starts to 1. Gym is 100% over capacity / overcrowded. 3 people to 1 machine is the norm now, people using the walk ways for working out, classes using the open areas & equipment during peak times, taking what little was left. People will audibly be complaining & standing around waiting for machines, then reps will be showing prospective new members around the gym. Greed will be the end of this gym. Parking is also always full, so its not a perk its a negative at this stage to drove around 30 min to wait for the parking to open a spot again.
Not just this club but virgin active as a company is highly inconsiderate and unethical in terms of their contracts i was explicitly told one amount over a 12 month period which then increased not once but twice by about a 20% increase im just a student and couldn't afford this unreasonable increase when I then tried to cancel they wouldn't let me cancel on basis of a drastic change in the price and then the lady on the line threatened that if I didn't pay over R1 000 for the cancelation they were going to come after me and it would effect my name. Maties gym is definitely better priced and a better gym in general.
