Exploring the historical role of dogs through captivating stories and exhibits
I wanted to love the museum of dogs, and the first room is really good with some interesting information and cute pictures of dogs. But, upstairs its like they didn't know what else to add, and the gift shop could be much improved (who doesn't want museum of dogs merch?!). It's fun enough for a quirky museum, and some of the other visitors were lovely dogs which helped, but it definitely could be vastly improved.
Absolutely loved the Museum of Dogs! Such a unique, charming and beautifully curated little museum. The stories about dogs and their owners are funny, touching and sometimes surprisingly emotional. You can really feel the love and thought that went into creating the place. It’s quirky, original and unlike any museum we’ve visited before. A must for any dog lover. We left with a big smile on our faces! 🐶❤️ If you end up going I hope you meet Karel and Fluffy ❤️🐾
It was awesome! A lovely time, with lovely reception! I can’t recommend this enough for anyone either looking for something fun to do, is a dog person or just looking to learn a bit more about our history with dogs and stories we have with them
What an absolute delight! The The Dog Museum is a must-visit for any dog lover. The museum is charming, quirky, and filled with fascinating exhibits celebrating our canine companions. Every display has been thoughtfully curated, and it's clear how much love and passion has gone into creating this unique space. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. We spent much longer here than expected, admiring the collection and discovering something new around every corner. A hidden gem in Cape Town and a wonderful break from the usual tourist attractions. Highly recommended for dog enthusiasts and anyone looking for a fun, heartwarming experience! 🐾❤️
Two thumbs up! A quaint museum, tucked away off the beaten path, but certainly worth a stop for any dog lover. The front staff was super pleasant, warm, and inviting. As a tourist, I appreciated the take on dogs in SA culture through the years, and neat artwork/stories to communicate that. Recommended visit!
