A profoundly moving and essential piece of Cape Town history The Iziko Slave Lodge offers an exceptionally well-told, vital history of enslavement in the region. It is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Cape Town who wants to truly understand the foundational history of the area. The exhibition is deeply respectful and incredibly educational, but what impacted me most was the wall bearing the names of the actual enslaved individuals. It is a powerful, thoughtful tribute that restores identity to those who were silenced, offering visitors a poignant opportunity to look at their names, remember them, and honor their humanity. Thank you to the curators for creating such a dignified and necessary space. Highly recommended.

Interesting museum. Some of the exhibits could be a bit better displayed / better location for them. A very sad history, so prepare to have a heavy day! 80 rand for non-South Africans.

Very informative museum with a plethora information for a good price. I started off strong, but struggled to retain all of the information since there was just so much. I wish there were more interactive exhibits to stay fully engaged in the important events and themes of the museum.

I really enjoyed learning more about South African history. The staff are not rude and the atmosphere is not chaotic.

It’s a nice museum to visit and know more about slavery and apartheid and what kind of life slaves had lived during that times. There are some interesting photos and images of Cape Town from previous ages. The building itself is a historical place where hospital based and some of the slaves lived. The museum has a luck of interactive elements, so prepare to read a lot. Still it’s quite interesting and worth to visit. Maybe not the best place to go with the children due to lack of interactive things.
