Now a museum. Very interesting. What is robably going to be the most popular coffee /light meal venue in the CBD busy opening up in the courtyard as you walk through. Heaven's café.

Tucked away in the heart of Cape Town, this small yet remarkably engaging museum feels like a quiet gem in the city’s cultural landscape. Recently reopened, it has quickly become a favourite. The museum houses a compelling juxtaposition of historical paintings alongside contemporary works, allowing for a thoughtful dialogue between past and present. Its collection feels intimate without being sparse, offering enough depth to linger over without overwhelming the viewer. What truly elevates the experience is the building itself. The house is an opulent, architecturally rich space, with intricate details and an atmosphere that invites you to imagine the lives and histories embedded within its walls. For anyone visiting Cape Town with a love for museums, art history, or simply beautiful spaces, this spot shouldn’t be missed. It’s a concise but rewarding experience. Ubering would be best, if visiting and new to the city. If you have time go for a coffee across the road by the church.

Went to Iziko house as a starting point for the Bo-Kaap. Got a little info from the lady at front desk. It was R80pp to walk around the little museum. If you're not into history, it might not be worth it , as it's only 4 little rooms with some photos and items. Gives some basic info on the history of the Bo-Kaap area and the development of Cape Town over the years. What we did find really fascinating was 2 items, which if you don't look closely at could be missed. A little table standing in the corner, and a square chest. These two wooden pieces of furniture had some of the most beautiful and fine crafted detail I'd ever seen. To me it was the highlight of the place. And I'd love to get some more information on where, when and how these pieces were made. Its truly mind blowing to imagine the time and effort that had to go into it. I've attached some photos. And really would appreciate if anyone can share some history on them.

Great collection of historical and natural features. We loved the clearly marked areas and the good quality taxidermy on most of the displays. Would have liked a few more interactive stations to bring a fresh/modern twist. Unfortunately a few of the areas were closed do to upgrades, so missed out. Look forward to seeing the completed areas when we are in Cape Town in the future.

Nice and beautiful museum, my kids were amazed at the dinausors skeletons. A fantastic experience. A place not to miss during your stay in Capetown.
