Great gym, inspiring atmosphere, all the equipment you need. Terry at Impakt got me back to fitness within a few weeks, after a nearly 3y hiatus as a busy mom. Through smart, gradual build up, I am again able to power on with my favourite way of training - HIIT and Muay Thai. I am now hooked again - mind and body - and look forward to every session. Thank you, Impakt SA!
Fantastic authentic gym, great training, and skills teaching. After 20yrs of various martial arts I’ve found a place where I can train and learn skills I missed out in some other places. Great for fitness and enjoyment. At 50 I thought I was over it. But I’ve found a passion again in this unassuming gym.
I chose this gym because of the great reviews and it's convenient location. My first impression was of a friendly, inclusive, supportive environment, excellent trainers, and nice people. I left 6 months later feeling ostrasised and judged. I signed up with a personal trainer. (Reyaaz) The only class I attended was the Suicide Sunday class. (the owner was there that day) It was amazing. I always paid upfront for the month, was never late, and never missed a session. I so looked forward to my workouts and I felt proud to be part of such an amazing environment. My personal trainer. Not so much. In the 6 months I trained 3x a week with him he spoke about his personal problems. A LOT. Was late about 70%of the time. Dropped me last minute. Forgot our times (they were the same every week) occasionally just didn't pitch. He stopped apologising after a while. After a 6week break (I had an operation) I picked up some weight. He came to gym in bad mood. Was harsh, rude, very demeaning and I left mid-way though session. I've never done that before. I requested another trainer. It wasn't possible. I requested a refund. It was refused. He owed me 9 sessions. Told me I was "overreacting" I tried to finish the remaining sessions, he was so dismissive, cold, doing the bare minimum, staring out of the window through my sessions. He canceled numerous times (hours before our sessions) and treated me in the most unprofessional manner. I couldn't take it any more, and I dreaded our sessions. They made me feel small and incompetant. After a couple of months I FINALLY got refunded for my 5 remaining sessions. Zero explanation. Zero apology. I am shocked and left feeling demoralized by his gross unprofessionalism, and extremely disappointed in this experience, at which is otherwise a really really great gym.
I was only in Cape Town for a short amount of time (10 days) so I searched for Martial Arts in Cape Town, Impakt appeared, was a bit shy and felt out of place after walking in, after 15 minutes after getting strapped up and gloves on, I was having the time of my life, fun classes, sweating like never before but enjoyable, Great Claremont setting made experience made my experience even better! Thanks Impakt
