A lovely tour with lots of information. Cindy knows everything about the story. The objects are very well peeserved. It is for people without any knowledge about transplantation and also for people that aee working in health care. We are so happy that we were able to visit the museum.
My wife and I were invited by friends to go with them to the Heart Museum at Groote Schuur. What was an initial apprehension about what it would offer, it turned into a fascinating insight into the first successful heart transplant in medical history. Our guide, Lauren, was a font of information – delivered with both passion and humor - on the subject from the dream of its possibility in the hands and mind of an extremely talented surgeon, the stars – both tragic and fortuitous - that had to align to make it happen and the response from the medical world that changed heart surgery forever. It is a revelation of the human spirit that, when driven, we are capable of extraordinary things. We cannot recommend this tour enough. Simply said, it blew our minds!.
This was an incredible museum to visit. It was so inspiring to hear how the first successful human heart transplant was done and all the work that went into it to make it a success.
Wonderful museum. Cindi is informative, energetic, and entertaining. She has a true passion for this museum and the history there. The tour lasted about an hour. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested.
We did this as an add on and wow were we so happy we did! The young woman who was our guide was such a delight - she made the tour not just highly informative and fascinating but injected a huge dose of humour! Well laid out, detailed and comprehensive overview of Dr Barnard, the donor and the surgery itself. A must do in Capetown. Dear guide - come to Australia - we will find you an Aussie hubby!!
