I appreciate the fact that the librarian got up and searched for a specific book because it didn't show on their system. Very neat and friendly staff and spacious. Kids sections are upstairs. Our kids were ready for book day🎊🎊

Wheelchair accessible , parking available , however the parkings need to be monitored a little better unless i just witnessed a miracle ! Ignorance seems to be the “disability” in these cases , with contractors and Ubers using the bays as a non-metered zone , come on City of CT , you guys can do better !

The children's section is delightful. And as for the staff - I've seen people treat them rudely and honestly I think you get what you give - I've only had the most wonderful service and the warmest reception for my kids and me when we visit.

The Claremont Library has a decent selection of books and a quiet environment, which I appreciate. However, I found the staff to be unfriendly and not very approachable. When the computers weren’t working, no assistance was offered, and it felt like I was on my own trying to figure things out. A bit more support and friendliness from the team would really improve the overall experience.

Not bad but not good. Building: 4/5 (Easy to find. Parking to be paid at the parking area. Big building with a lot of natural light on the one side.) Navigation: 3/5 (Adult and resource books at the bottom which is sometimes hard to navigate cause signs are missing and aren’t always clear. Kids, teens and DVDs at the top which was a lot easier to navigate since there’s a lot more room.) Maintenance: 2/5 (I get that it’s an old library and that there’s a lot of exposure to the sun which can harm book covers and bookshelf signs but it must be better maintained. Finding what I wanted was near impossible sometimes. Books are sometimes all over the place and aren’t shelved where they’re supposed to be which makes finding some books impossible. The teen section especially was a mess. Unshelved books on the table, some random books hidden on the wrong shelf.. I can go on. Not all visitors are going to be respectful unfortunately which can’t be helped so it’s up to the staff working there to fix it to the best of their abilities. I would’ve fixed it myself if I had more time the time to spare. It really isn’t that hard. The signs on the bookshelves are mostly worn away and are long overdue for replacements which can even easily be done with making easy to read handwritten signs or printing out signs and labels. There aren’t always clear indicators to show where some certain sections start and end. This all means I’m spending longer than I should here and my parking fee goes up. There’s also some computer monitors on some study desks which look like they’ve been broken and unused for years, if this is the case then they must be thrown out to make space for something else.) Staff: 3/5 (It’s clearly understaffed which needs to be fixed. I only saw about 4 staff members when I last went. One was packing children’s books back on the shelves, one was about to leave and two were by the checkout point not really looking like they were doing anything when there was plenty of work to be done on the floors. I usually try to avoid asking for help but the last time I went looking for a couple of books and they said they had the one I was looking for but when I told them I couldn’t find it in the section it was supposed to be in they just said “I don’t know” and that was that.) Overall it’s not a bad environment at all but it just MUST be better looked after and maintained. I’ve been coming to this library since I was a child and it doesn’t look like there’s been any good changes since then. If I want to keep using this library the facilities must improve. No need to replace and update the whole place. The book selection at this library is amazing but the facilities and services must become better.
