Beautiful space. It's safe love the fact that there's a restaurant there, you can get something to eat, relax and breath before the next venture. They have a variety of entertainment. Ckeck it you won't be disappointed.
Enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Baxter Theatre for the Jive Funny Festival. The show was absolutely brilliant — we laughed so much from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with a fantastic audience and a genuinely enjoyable entertainment experience overall. The Baxter remains one of Cape Town’s iconic cultural spaces and continues to provide a welcoming environment for live performances. Before the show, we had dinner at La Cuccina. The buffet-style meal was well suited to theatre goers, offering a convenient and relaxed dining option before the performance. The atmosphere was warm and social, and the overall experience complemented the evening perfectly. Overall, a very enjoyable Cape Town evening filled with laughter, good food, and a vibrant social atmosphere.
Overall, it was a great experience attending the high school Shakespeare adaptations plays. While there was plenty of parking, I noticed a lack of visible security patrolling the area. Before the show, we decided to eat at the in-house restaurant, La Cuccina. They only serve buffet-style plated meals that are priced by weight. The food was average and nothing spectacular but other people around me were impressed by the food offering.( Boils down to personal taste) My wife had a combination of short rib and chicken, while I chose the chicken pie with vegetables. They also had a few cakes and muffins at the counter, and you can buy takeaway coffee.The Cafe Mocha was excellent, and the overall service was good.As for the venue, it is a bit dated but retains a certain charm. However, once you sit down, prepare to stay still for the duration of the show. There is virtually no legroom, and you will likely engage in an armrest tussle with your neighbour.
Absolutely no leg room in the seating - a very tight squeeze (and I am not big), otherwise a lovely venue!

My grandparents were my world. Peter originated from Amsterdam and my grandmother was born Jewish. I carry my heritage with grace and have my grandmothers first name as a second name Mary - Anne. My first name is Portia. I am 61 years young by the Grace of God. Now you wondering how it is that i am called Portia, No ..its not because my precious mother of 82 loved Shakespeare... my mother listened to a Tuesday morning Springbok Radio serial called Portia Faces Life. And so she did! She lived it through me. Life is a cabaret ole chum, come to the BAXTER THEATRE where life is everything but a cabaret, Its committing yourself to a ART of EXPLOSIONS I attended the UCT Students showcase of their talent and i am sooo very proud to say "It was impossible to sit and watch, i was jigging at the back of the theatre room with the biggest grin, a little girl dancing all over again for my grandfather Peter! I am a Benefactor of Fine Music Radio Station in the CBD Of Cape Town. Should you feel a calling, one you know haunts your Soul to finery embers, where ever you may be ,come and watch the flames of ignition calling your name from whetever you are to go go, to become a Star ,just come , be you..
