Ananda Sanctuary is my preferred yoga studio, where I practise yoga almost every day. Over the years I've practised at a number of studios, and this is one that I've genuinely enjoyed returning to and making part of my daily routine.
The setting is beautiful, an old Victorian house surrounded by lush greenery, with wooden floors and a warm, homely feel. It has a peaceful atmosphere that begins the moment you walk in.
The teachers each bring their own style, so there's a great variety of classes, and I especially enjoy the infrared-heated hot vinyasa classes. Personally, I much prefer infrared heat, as it feels like a more natural and supportive way to practise than other heating systems I've experienced.
What I appreciate most is that the studio feels genuine and down to earth. It has a quiet authenticity that, for me, reflects the spirit of yoga without feeling pretentious or commercial. It's welcoming, intimate, and community oriented.
Beyond the yoga classes, the studio regularly hosts workshops with both local holistic practitioners and well-known international facilitators, creating opportunities for learning, healing, and connection. It's a space that reflects care, openness, and a genuine commitment to supporting the community. There is a clear sense that the community matters here, and that openness, inclusivity, and respect are values that are genuinely lived rather than simply talked about.

Ananda Sanctuary is a truly amazing space that you immediately feel at home in. Yoga, in all its forms is at the heart and there is a wonderful and authentic feeling of community that has been created in the space. The classes are amazing and go beyond just the physical asana practice. I searched for some time after arriving in Cape Town to find a yoga space that felt like this!

As both a long-time yoga practitioner and a recently qualified yoga teacher, I have found Ananda Sanctuary to be an incredibly valuable space for learning and growth. The teachers are knowledgeable and supportive, and the classes balance thoughtful instruction with a welcoming atmosphere. It is a studio that encourages a deeper understanding of yoga while remaining accessible and down-to-earth.

Such a beautiful yoga studio — truly one of my favorite and most beautiful places to practice yoga. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and instantly makes you feel at ease. The aerial yoga classes are amazing: fun, relaxing, and guided with so much care and professionalism. A special place that feels peaceful from the moment you walk in. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and uplifting yoga experience!
