Largest selection of high quality authentic (mainly) African art and curios covering most of the continent under one roof I have come across. Pricing is fair and competitive and staff are obliging and have great knowledge. We put aside about 10 items ranging in size and fragility. They provided a price to ship to the airport in Boston or to home. Interestingly, the price for packaging and shipping Cape Town to Boston Logan airport was half of what it was to ship all the way home (less than 50 miles extra) but that would have doubled the price! We chose airport only! Anyway, all arrived in excellent condition within 2 weeks with fumigation certification and appropriate invoice for US customs. As an aside, dealing with the cargo team in Boston was WAY harder but US customs was easy. Will definitely visit again next trip to Africa.

I highly recommend this store for souvenir shopping. They have many items to choose from at very good price. I found some nice cow-bone bracelets at incredible price. You do not need to go to the Green Market as most of the items there are mass produced and overpriced, just come to African Trading Port.

Stores like the African Trading Port are few and far between. Want to pick up an inexpensive souvenir from South Africa? Terrific selection. Interested in folk and tribal art? They have room after room of various items – spears & shields, thumb pianos, wood carvings, and more. You are welcome to simply browse. In front of the store is a lovely collection of large carved stone sculptures, in styles from realistic to modern abstract. I fell in love with two and asked about them. I was given prices, inventory numbers, type of stone, artists’ name and home country, but I didn’t buy either before we flew home. Once home I e-mailed the Trading Port and asked for a quote to purchase one of the statues and ship it to Massachusetts. Tracey verified the statue I wanted and quickly responded with a detailed quote. On-line payment was simple. The Trading Post took care of all the details – packing, customs, coordination with shipping and trucking companies. Tracey communicated shipping progress as the 500 lb statue made its way from Cape Town to Rotterdam to Le Havre to New York to Boston and then to my home. The sculpture arrived in perfect condition. We are now weighing possible locations in our gardens to best enjoy it.

One of the shop worth visiting at the Waterfront. With 4 level full of intriguing collections and souvenirs, it's a store you definitely wouldnt want to miss. Note that some items are reasonably marked up in its pricetag, but some items are just easier to find in one location. From Zulu warriors shield and used arrows, to statues and knick knacks. It's an experience in itself!

African Trading Post in Cape Town is a fantastic place to find authentic African crafts, artwork, and souvenirs. The store is well organized, easy to browse, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are fair, and the selection is impressive, from textiles and jewelry to sculptures and home décor. Perfect for picking up unique gifts and supporting local artisans while visiting Cape Town!
