Compared to some other wine estates, this is probably not the most spectacular one, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. The wine is good, but our host in the tasting room was not so knowledgeable.

We popped in for a quick wine tasting and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the setting was just magical. The estate beautifully blends world-class wines with rich history What really made it stand out was the wild animals roaming around — a lovely, unexpected touch that perfectly captures the South African bush vibe. Seeing game in the background while sipping excellent wines created such a unique, relaxing atmosphere. It felt far removed from the usual tasting room experience and gave the whole visit a memorable, almost safari-meets-vineyard feel. The wines were fantastic (we especially enjoyed [insert specific wines if you remember any]), the service was warm and knowledgeable without being overbearing, and the pacing was perfect for a quick visit. Everything felt authentic, well-maintained, and thoughtfully put together. Highly recommend stopping here whether you’re a wine lover, history buff, or just looking for a peaceful, scenic break. We’ll definitely be back for a longer visit next time. Thank you for a truly delightful experience! 🍷🦒

We spent a night here and also enjoyed the wine tasting. It’s a tranquil location close to shops and restaurants but will a country farm feel. Comfortable bed and the apartment had everything we needed.

Our private tasting at Saxenburg Wine Estate in the Polkadraai Hills was an exceptional experience. The biltong & wine pairing was thoughtfully curated, with each wine — from the elegant Private Collection Sauvignon Blanc to the robust Syrah — perfectly matched to rich, flavourful biltong and cured game meats. The wines were expressive, with delicate notes of passion fruit, pear, and subtle spice, and the staff provided warm, knowledgeable, and personalised guidance throughout. The intimate setting and private attention made the experience feel truly bespoke, allowing us to enjoy each pairing at our own pace in a relaxed, elegant atmosphere. Saxenburg offers a refined, boutique-style tasting that highlights both quality wines and authentic South African flavours — a must for anyone seeking a memorable and sophisticated cellar-door experience.
