An Italian gelato shop tucked inside a garage shop—and trust me, this is one of those places you’d be foolish to judge by location alone. What looks unassuming from the outside delivers a surprisingly premium experience once you step in. The shop is small but beautifully designed, with sleek, modern, fresh finishes that instantly elevate the space. There’s a tempting selection of gelato flavours on display, along with a barista section, and I spotted pastries and even pizza—dangerous information, honestly. We ordered two sugar cones: one hazelnut gelato and one Dubai chocolate. The gelato was rich, creamy, and tasted genuinely fresh, paired with crisp sugar cones that didn’t go soggy halfway through (always a win). I went for the Dubai chocolate, and it did not disappoint. The kataifi remained crunchy, the pistachio paste held its own, and it wasn’t lost beneath the richness of the chocolate gelato—a perfect balance of texture and flavour. We were extremely happy with our choices, which says a lot considering how high post-lunch expectations were. Service was friendly and efficient, and even the smallest details—right down to the serviettes—felt considered and premium. For a shop operating inside a garage space, the overall experience felt far more high-end than expected. If you’re in the Ballito area, Peppe Pistachio is an absolute must-try.
