Ocean Basket has always been one of our old-time favourites, so returning with our family and guests visiting from abroad was something we were really looking forward to. Thankfully, the food did not disappoint! 🐟🦐 We started with grilled and fried halloumi platters, grilled hake bites and grilled tiger prawns bites, all of which were absolutely delicious albeit in small portions. The Greek salad was fresh, beautifully flavoured and generously loaded with feta, exactly how we like it! And then came our never-failing Ocean Basket order: grilled kingklip fish and tiger prawns and fried calamari rings, drizzled in that delicious garlic-lemon butter sauce absolutely to die for! The seafood was cooked beautifully and packed with flavour. And, of course, no seafood meal is complete for us without an Appletizer:) It pairs so well with seafood and somehow enhances all those flavours. The panoramic view of the Indian Ocean was simply breathtaking and added another special dimension to the meal. The food, setting and familiar Ocean Basket flavours certainly reminded us why this has been a favourite over the years. There was, however, a little room for improvement with the service. We were a family of eight, with guests from abroad, and the initial service was noticeably slow, particularly around the starters and the complimentary bread basket. The basket came with only four very small bread rolls for our table of eight. When we asked for more, we received one additional basket. I subsequently requested two more baskets at an additional cost, but unfortunately, these only arrived after reminding the staff three times and at different times. The two waiters looking after our table were friendly enough, but at times seemed oblivious to what was still missing or being awaited. Each reminder almost felt like we were placing the order all over again, which was a little off-putting. That said, these were relatively minor issues in what was otherwise a really enjoyable family meal. A little more hands-on and attentive table service would have made the experience feel truly complete. Overall, though, the food was excellent, the seafood was fresh and flavourful, the view was spectacular, and it was wonderful to enjoy an old favourite again. Ocean Basket still delivers on the food, and hopefully with just a little more attention to the service next time!
