Good airport. Despite it being my first time, I was able to easily find my way to where I was going, even though time was tight. I loved the cool decorations inside the airport, they added a nice touch! The airport definitely seemed to be very well maintained in all aspects.

Compact & Convenient The airport is small and easy to navigate, which is a massive plus. You won't spend half an hour walking to your gate; everything is within a manageable distance. Despite its size, it feels premium and "boutique," featuring high-end retail and some of the best airport food in the country. The "Windy Welly" Experience You can't talk about Wellington Airport without mentioning the weather. Because of its location between the hills and the Cook Strait, it’s famous for high winds. The Thrill: Be prepared—turbulence during landing is almost a rite of passage here. It’s a unique experience that truly gets the adrenaline pumping! The Skill: It’s impressive to watch the pilots handle the "bumpiness" with such precision. While it might be a bit of a rollercoaster, it makes every arrival feel like a genuine adventure. The Atmosphere The terminal design is stunning, especially the timber-clad "Rock" and the giant Wētā Workshop sculptures (like Gandalf on his eagle) that pay homage to Wellington’s film industry. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a sophisticated yet cozy vibe. Final Verdict Wellington Airport proves that "small" can be "great." It’s efficient, beautifully designed, and offers a landing you’ll definitely remember. If you like a bit of excitement with your travel, you’ll love flying into the "Windy City." Pros: Beautiful, creative interior design. Compact and very easy to get around. Great local food and coffee. Cons: Not for the faint of heart on a gusty day!

Great little airport with good and affordable connections to the city. Mostly catered to domestic but has also an international gate for services to Australia. There is one terminal with a few shops and cafes as well as a bar and hotel on Level 1. Check in is my self serve and a breeze. The airport has one runway on a south west/north east angle. If you are lucky you get a great view of Wellington coming in /going out. Staff are friendly and traveler are super relaxed which makes it a nice place to be. Plenty of free and comfortable seats too.
I had a really good time at Wellington Airport. The staff were super friendly and welcoming from the moment I got there, which made the whole trip feel easy and chill. The airport had a cool vibe, and I loved the good deals at the shops and cafés,it made waiting way more fun. What really stood out was how smooth and quick everything was, from checking in to getting on the plane. No annoying delays, and everything felt well-organized. Seriously, it was a seamless experience, and I actually enjoyed my time there. I'd totally be happy to go through this airport again.
