Providing food and social support in Johnsonville
Got some bedding, they had price tags on them so they had already been priced. When I took it up to the counter the lady DOUBLE charged me for everything!! I tried to prove my point about it being priced already but she didn’t care nor listen
I was not even given essentials or a food parcel. They pretended to choose me and my daughter Indy Gebbie clothes and then kept them fir themselves. One women from the salvation army community centre, the other works in the clothing and furniture store. They did not even offer shoes or rain coats.
This (Salvation Army johnsonville) is a typical “family church” & if you’re married or married & have kids then it’s good. If (like me) you’re single then good luck as the pastor/eldership don’t want to know. Some of the congregation outright refused to have anything to do with me (because of my lack of a spouse) or were unsure how to talk to me for that reason. I left & the pastor admitted to me he’d failed to engage despite me wanting to get involved.
Great store. Staff a super friendly and it is the biggest op shop in Johnsonville. Very high turnover of product so you are bound to find something new when you visit.
This church has been so helpful to us in the past. When we couldn't find a location for our band school they let us use their space, they saved our band school!
