Rooftop garden and bar with city views and seasonal dishes
We did a company event here for painting activity. There is a big private space down the end for us. And we loved the atmosphere here. Service was great to give us support. Little nibbles were yummy. We’d like to come here again for any other activities.
Our experience at The Arborist was such an incredible addition to our weekend visit to Wellington. Millie warmly welcomed us as soon as we arrived and was extremely attentive and friendly during the time we were there. Bringing our 3 year old a coloring pack was also unexpected but very appreciated. The food was delicious, the perfect balance of a breakfast in the Lumberjack. Roasted mushrooms were 👌🏽👌🏽 and the French toast was perfect. Will 100% be back again next time we're in Wellington. Highly recommend and thank you Millie!
Went on a Friday night for burgers. It was very easy to get a booking. I reserved on Wednesday and every time slot was available. The burgers were decent. Not earth-shatteringly amazing, but exactly what you’d expect and fairly priced. Service was to a high standard. They also do $15 burgers on Thursdays, so it could be worth going then.
Rooftop dining at its finest! You want view, you got it; you want food, you got it! You want a good atmosphere, you definitely got it! You looking for vibe, believe me, you got it! The Aborist has managed to mesh comfort-dining and party-vibe into one neat package anyone will be lucky to partake in! My wife and I popped up to the Arborist RoofTop Bar (which only opens at 16:00 according to their online bookings) and after a short 2 flight, graffitied fire escape journey you are met by an procession of beautiful city views welcoming you to the Willies Vibe of good weekend chill! The fore escape could potentially have decorations similar to that of the Roof top dining space to tie the two spaces together. But, enough of that! We here for the food after all! Compliments to the Chef! We ordered the Vegan Platter, served as Crunchy Falafel and a setting of Salad bound to freshen up a tired pallette! I must take my hat off to their their popcorn coliflower, best word, WOW! Was that cheese in their? Great combo! Reimagined genius! This meal could have been served with a bit more enthusiasm though, but, the meal and the atmosphere held the experience together, so I only popped a 4 star on service, the bartenders were great, smiles all around! If you're looking for a place to have a Year-End Functuon, Birthday Party, Night out with the friends, this is the place to be! For a more restaurant-type setting, dine in the Ground Floor Restaurant, for a laid back, chilled dining experience, treat yourself to the Rooftop Bar! Overall, EXCELLENT WORK TEAM!!!!! *Don't drool too much over the pics now (wink)
Okay bar in Wellington. I came on a Friday after work. Went with some work colleagues. You start on the ground-floor part and they instruct you in how to get to the rooftop part. Once up there, you can order drinks from the top. They had a 2 for $20 alcoholic slushy opportunity, which I claimed for the peach gin sour. It was wayyy too sour and not balanced at all, and was barely frozen. I then ordered a Hugo spritz, which was a great drink. I also saw some interesting liquors that I didn’t get a chance to try, but may do in the future. Something that really annoyed me and impacted my experience negatively was the food situation. I asked if I could order fried chicken and chips (nibbles on their menu), and they told me I would have to order it downstairs, wait downstairs, and then take it up myself. This meant I didn’t order anything upstairs, and potentially violates their expectations as an on-license to also sell food on their premises. I then saw that people were receiving food, so I asked if I could now order food, and they said yes so I asked for the chips and chicken again, only to be told they would only do the chips. This was very frustrating. The upstairs area is fine; not great views and not a lot of sun protection. Dirty Little Secret is much better with both these points. Lastly, I remember getting really tasty fried chicken last time I went, so at the end of the drinks upstairs, I went down and ordered some takeaway Korean fried chicken. Tasty, but for $22 I’d expect better, and more chicken!! Tiny portion. This is also meant to be nibbles with drinks, and I can’t imagine it would feed many people. Overall, I’d only recommend The Arborist if you wanted to try their regular cocktails and some of their liquors, but the venue and overall experience is not great. There are much better places in Wellington.
