Wellingtons central library with books, cafe, and makerspaces
Staff very informative. Lots of wide spaces, to sit,ponder, read or work from, great variety of books, mini entertainment area available. Walk in of the street straight into a Cafe. Facility is modern in design plenty of natural light, a close in children's area .
Went to the café at the new library. Quite nice inside. Had a piece of cherry pie which had nice pastry and a nice filling. However, it was very small for $9.50, and they didn't offer to heat it or offer me cream or yoghurt to go with it. I think they need to do better.
I had a really positive experience at the library. Grisham was very helpful, patient, and made the whole process smooth and comfortable. Elizabeth (Liz) was also lovely to interact with — warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. She encouraged me to explore a few options, and I appreciated the welcoming approach. The library itself is a wonderful space — peaceful, well-maintained, and a great environment to focus, learn, and grow. It truly feels like an investment in the minds and future of Aotearoa New Zealand. There’s a great range of books and watchable content — from business and finding work, to growing ideas and startups, to understanding people and the world better. The collection feels extensive and genuinely useful. The internet is reliable, the atmosphere is calm and positive, and every staff member I interacted with — including security and the café team — was kind and respectful. Really grateful to have a space like this in the community. Edit - I have more amazing names to add, Sierra, Jo, and Tara and even more, the whole place is great environment . I'm sorry if I forget other names but you guys are amazing. Even Chris from the security team. You are so professional man.
really loved the Wellington Central Library. The place is modern, bright, and very pleasant to spend time in—you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. I especially appreciated the wide range of books available, as well as the well-designed spaces. It’s easy to find a quiet spot to read, but also great for getting some work done. The private study rooms are a big plus: practical, comfortable, and perfect for working alone or in small groups. Even when it’s busy, the atmosphere remains positive and welcoming, making it a true living space in the heart of the city. 👉 A place you genuinely enjoy coming back to.
Great it is open again. Some great spaces inside and nice views to parts of the city. You can also borrow some pretty good board games which is cool. Maker space is awesome too
