Unfortunately their eligibility for subsidized services does not included everyone who is legally able to access funded healthcare in NZ. The government lists several groups of people who are eligible, Sexual Wellbeing only recognise work visa and even then they don't recognise people on legally eligible working holiday visas. Even if you live here but are from abroad you may as well just go to your GP or a chemist, either is FAR cheaper!
My first experience was really great. The lady was very accommodating and helpful, especially when it came to making up for my birth control and other concerns. She even suggested that I book another appointment in three months to check up on everything. However, my second experience wasn’t as great. A completely different lady greeted me bluntly, telling me that she didn’t know what I booked the appointment for; I was taken aback by her question and felt uncomfortable. During that session, she wasn’t very accommodating and seemed cold and dismissive of my medical history and concerns. Not only that she have a student there, I didn’t mind, but it felt like I was a guinea pig rather than her focussing on me, the patient. I think it would be great if they booked appointments for the same genealogist as before, as the experience was jarring and I won’t be coming here again because of it.
They were open between Christmas and New Years to provide service to people who need it. The receptionist was lovely and the nurse was great, informative, and consent focused. My procedure was fast and done professionally. Thank you!
Always feel so comfortable coming in here! The receptionists are so welcoming and make it feel like a really calm environment to be in. Nurses/doctors are super proactive and have helped me find solutions to period problems I've had for years. Half the price of a GP visit also!
Really surprised to see that people take the time to give Family Planning a review, but from reading a few of the negative ones I thought it would make sense to share my positive experience. I had to make an appointment during level 4 and the entire system/experience was AWESOME. 10/10 would go again. Not only were staff extremely professional during such trying times, they were friendly, considerate, and all-round superstars who followed Covid protocols superbly. Knowing that there are essential workers out there who are dedicated to allowing women to have control of their own fertility truly helps me sleep better at night, you all deserve significant pay rises.
