First time visited this place, parking was an issue around restaurant. Place was packed, but our table was pre booked so didn’t have to wait at all. Awesome food, service was amazing. Loved the ambiance. Definitely recommend.

In Wellington for work on one of the coldest days in 2026. Staying in Oriental Bay, this was just a short walk on my way through town back to my hotel. I'd wanted to go here for a while, and now it has a Michelin star, I was even keener. Wonderful!! A light meal of the Teeny-weeny, creamy French toast fish sandwich (Yum!), the House-made fromage blanc with pumpkin (double Yum!) and a nice Pinot. A fantastic wine list, as you'd expect, but also an unexpectadly full and great beer list. Warm, welcoming and the service and food were excellent. Its the sort of place you could stay for hours with good freinds and happily make your local - and I know for many it is. Will defenitely be back for a longer and fuller sampling of the menu next time. Worthy of their Star ⭐.

Been coming for years and this time was…… business as usual. The service was super friendly and on point, the food was seriously good, and the cocktails were next level. Everything just hit the spot. Definitely my favourite spot in Wellington, can’t wait to go back!

Second time at Ortega and really enjoyed it. The first time we felt the food was a little hit and miss for how good the reviews are and the price, but this time we were really impressed. Very clever flavours and excellent service.

Such a lovely restaurant. Always our first choice when in wellington. So many classics that have been on the menu for years. Our waitress from Scotland was incredible. Amazing wine list. Great consistent quality food. Prawns, Ceviche and Steak are always a favourite. Love that you can get the prawns as a main and the generous amount of bread they give to soak up the sauce. Battered Oysters and the snapper french toast sandwich was a great way to start. Warehou Rilletes were great and generous portion, Same with the Lamb! It can get pretty loud but thats all good. Bartender working this Tuesday night was so kind and knowledgeable! There seemed to be a wedding being celebrated upstairs and that didn’t affect service or efficiency at all :)
