Our cozy establishment offers wine and small plates
In Wellington for work on one of the coldest days in 2026. Following afternoon meetings stopped into Ombra as I passed on Cuba St. What a wonderful find!! I made it for Aperitivo Hour, yeah!!, a nice Prosecco, some complimentary bites and a delicious Fish Crudo. Great spot, excellent service and food. WIll be back for longer next time. Worthy of their Michelin Selection.
Very enjoyable dinner date spot in the heart of the city. The service was incredible. We arrived early without a reservation and luckily there was a table available for us. Entrees were delicious - we had the arancini and crudo. Added polenta chips (yum) and ordered the parpadelle and pesto pasta. Both were equally delectable. Pesto pasta was fresh, the wild boar ragu was also delicious albeit on the heavier side. Will definitely be coming back again.
Such a good experience! Came for the good looking pizza, stayed for all the rest of the amazing italian dishes. It's such a good idea to do small pizzas (pizzette) so you have room to try other things. Would come again whenever I stop in Wellington!
This sits at around 3.5 stars for me. Average, and nothing was horribly inedible, but a lot can be improved. We were looking forward to dining here as we were recommended this place by some locals. We ordered arancini and polenta chips for starters, then the speck pizzette and the gnocchi. The arancini was 2 for $15. For $7 a ball, some of the rice was quite grainy and undercooked. Though fried to perfection and very cheesy, we weren’t very impressed with the cheese sauce, which if we didn’t look at the menu, we would’ve thought was just whipped butter. The gnocchi was delicious, crispy yet soft and fluffy on the inside. The pizzette was delicious and the artichoke worked really well with the speck. Service was friendly and attentive to the water refills, and the food came out at a good pace, and we didn’t feel rushed. If visiting, bring your physical id for drinks.
We had an enjoyable lunch although I'm not really a fan of the "small plates" trend - better full size portions of what you want in my view. I had the duck risotto which to be honest was a large enough portion size so I was happy with that and it was very good too. My wife's beetroot salad was a fair size as well. The service was excellent attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The atmosphere overall was very bar-like but spacious and light.
