Tracking native and colonial culture, plus natural history
I have visited Te Papa this Saturday. The museum is stunning with fantastic interactive exhibits. The giant squid display absolutely blew me away, it was such a highlight. I also saw the huge, incredibly detailed WWII model. It was so realistic and immersive, truly a work of art.
One of the best museums ever visited. Plenty of interactive and gamified explanations to everything about NZ not only for kids but adults too. The Anzac room left us quite speechless as well. A serious topic presented with very interactive and clear storytelling. The sculptures are some of the most impressive pieces of art we had ever seem. Leave quite the impression and a feeling of being tiny. The staff is also very kind and welcoming even before the official opening hours they are out and about and answering questions. Could spend many more hours wondering around in such a thoughtfully designed place. A must when in Welly.
This museum is a must. The building is fantastic and deserves a visit in itself. The exhibits are great, very well presented and explained. The presentation around the Waitangi treaty was excellent. Please do visit the 4th and 5th floors. The contemporary collections are wonderful. The coffee shops offer a nice space to close the visit with a chat and a tea.
My hubby and I decided to fill in the day at The Museum of New Zealand. The staff were very friendly and helpful when you enter. We casually strolled all through the different levels of the Museum, and viewed many displays. I was very impressed with the Gallipoli Display, very life like and the attention to detail was extraordinary, just an amazing display to see, definitely do not miss this. So many other impressive dislays, some interactive the kids will love. So much to view and take in, I did get alittle confused in things I was looking at, but I guess they call it art, each to their own. Great little Cafe area to sit and have a coffee and snack if you need a break ( Coffee is actually good too ). Also Lifts provided for Wheelchairs or Prams or for people who struggle getting up and down on stairs to the different levels of this Museum. Really enjoyed this Museum, time well spent
We booked a tour and our tour guide Samir was amazing! He has such a deep and broad knowledge and told us so much that wasn’t even written down anywhere. He guided the tour with so much enthusiasm he could have literally made us excited for everything. We’re so happy we booked the tour! And the museum itself made us speechless! Every exhibition is so detailed and we loved the big amount of interactive games. It’s definitely one of the best museums we were ever in. Plan on spending a whole day here as it has 6 different floors and a cafe with great coffee in the 4th floor! Everybody stopping or passing through Wellington should definitely visit it!!
