Matairangi Nature Trail - Logs & Slide

Matairangi Nature Trail is a playground in Wellington offering a walking experience on Mount Victoria that encourages families to explore the outdoors. We have installed habitat stations along the trail that reflect elements of nature and the habitat of local wildlife like the matuku hūrepo, kapokapowai, tuna, moko pirirākau, and wētā. Each station provides opportunities for children to step, jump, slide, and climb as they explore the trail. We invite visitors to follow the pīwakawaka (fantail) as they play through the natural environment. Parking areas are available at the beginning and midpoint of the trail, as well as a large car park at the Mount Victoria summit.
