The staff at this store know ball. Not a typical op shop experience in the sense that the stock is curated and priced accordingly. I like the stuff, but I understand that this strategy is pricing people out.

Big store with a big focus on vintage items. Pricing was ridiculous even on non vintage items. $50 for an embroidered table cloth. Pieces of fabric at prices that made spotlight look cheap.

Look I have had some good finds here in the past but really people, for the good of humanity, no op shop should be selling an item for $450… especially if it’s only 80% wool

Yesterday I made the unfortunate decision to go here to drop off some donations. As soon as my friend and I walked in to say we had donations, the lady (an older european) straight away looked us both up and down and told us she typically didn’t take donations so late in the day, I apologised and said we had just finished work which she proceeded to say she didn’t care. The first item she looked at was a big crystal bowl, which she told me “I could’ve at least cleaned, we’re not the tip” which I then apologised again and told her I was in the process of moving, which then for a second time told me she didn’t care. as i was trying to go through the donations with her and explain the quality of things, she would constantly cut me off and talk over me in an incredibly rude and dismissive way. she would filter through the items and toss them aside with a sneer on her face acting as though it was dirt, and didn’t seem to care for taking on quality items she didn’t deem ‘cute’ enough, making it clear she didn’t care about helping the community and only making a profit off people’s donations. she instantly made us regret choosing to donate there and we left as soon as we could, will never be donating or supporting their store ever again. the most off putting and horrible service i’ve come across in wellington in years.
