Great rock/pebble beach. Lots of cool driftwood and seaweed. We took our dog and he loved all the smells. There is a pretty solid rocky area to climb around that would be tricky for older or younger people. We saw people snorkeling and a little pit fire. We had planned on doing the walkway however dogs aren’t allowed.

Nice place to catch some fresh air! Warning: You might face some network issues, so if you are going to use map to come and go out of the place, do be pre planned and prepared.

I absolutely love this beach. There are great walking tracks and really good fishing. Every time I go fishing here, it doesn't disappoint. The last time I went, I caught a tarakihi, 2 blue cod and a kahawai.

Makara beach is 25 minutes and 17 kms away from Wellington. The road to this beach is quite windy and turns. You have to be very careful driving this way and keep an eye on your speed. It's a rough beach and be prepared with climbing shoes. Don't know why but the smell of this beach is quite weird Be safe while playing here, there is no network coverage in this area.
