Couldn’t be happier with my experience at Jam. Ben and the whole team are friendly, professional, and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Ben really takes the time to understand what you’re after, and the attention to detail is second to none. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is top-notch, and I walked out with exactly the haircut I wanted. Highly recommend Ben and his team to anyone looking for a quality haircut and great customer service. I’ll definitely be back! Charlotte is great at sweeping the floors too, keeps the place looking amazing.

Bryce definitely made my experience so wonderful and warm. He listened to my needs and gave me a great cut. Lovely and chatty. Very Wellington vibes. Also purchased the hair product he used on my hair at the end (evo, casual act moulding paste) smells amazing and goes great with my hair type. Also they fit me in super last minute! Booked an appointment within the hour of checking the website. Thanks Jam! I’ll be back :)

Been going to Jam for just over a year now and they have always been consistently amazing with my hair. From day dot Ben has been my hairdresser and has always cut my curly hair perfectly and how I want it and always given good advice on my hair if I wanted to style it differently. I always recommend Jam (& Ben) to other Curly Girls who and would always come back!

I do NOT recommend JAM for curly hair. It is genuinely alarming how a business can operate without even basic care or competence. I went in for a cut and thinning for my thick, long curly hair. Anyone with curly hair knows exactly what proper thinning involves. For context, I am over 30 years old and have had essentially the same haircut my entire life. I clearly instructed the hairdresser to cut one inch, yet they continued cutting well beyond that. The final result is uneven and poorly executed. When you charge $150 for a service, the least you can do is be properly trained and prepared—not ramble aimlessly while damaging someone’s hair. Throughout the cut, my hair was repeatedly pulled up and chopped without being combed through properly. The cut hair was left sitting in my curls instead of being removed. Then came the thinning—honestly shocking. I have been getting my hair thinned for 28 years, and this was nothing short of random cutting with no technique. To make matters worse, they didn’t even have a wide-tooth comb, which is essential for curly hair. Instead, a tangle brush was used, leaving my curls frizzy and distressed. I was told that “expensive curly hair products” were used, but that would make sense if my hair was properly styled. At no point in the entire was I asked are you ok with the length. When I got home and showered, the amount of hair that fell out was horrifying—the shower cabin looked like a scene from The Grudge. If you are charging $150, be prepared. Have the right tools. Most importantly, ensure that skilled professionals handle curly hair, especially for first-time clients. This experience was completely unacceptable. The attached photo is 40 percent of the hair fallen after my shower.
