Nice sandy beach popular in the summer. Parking is a bit limited and the beach is good for dogs. There is a warning about dangerous rips and the beach is unguarded. Near the Dorrance to the beach is a propeller from a New Zealand Navy frigate the rest of the ship was sunk as a diving site.

Great spot! A sandy beach, good waves and a great view on both the Cook Strait and the Kaikoura Ranges. However, be mindful of water quality after heavy rain; the stream can carry chemicals from a decommissioned rubbish dump above the neighbouring hills. Chiefly rust, and can turn the bay orange. Definitely wouldn't swim in that.

Underrated beach. Never crowded and pleasant to swim when the swell isn't too big. Also great snorkeling spots either side

Nice Sandy beach on the south coast of Wellington. There is a large propeller here from an old navy frigate. The beach is dog friendly and there are a few parking spaces. Not suitable for swimming as there is an undertow present.
