Delicate, creative and delicious meal. The vegetables were primarily gone grown. Service explained each dish with enthusiasm - the whole dining experience a real treat . Will return for a special occasion. Highly recommended.
An unforgettable dining experience at Hillside Kitchen. Every dish felt thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully balanced — you could really taste the quality of the ingredients from their garden. The alcohol pairing was also a highlight, especially the opening stone fruit liqueur. I also really appreciated how the pairing introduced a range of interesting New Zealand wines. Everything felt carefully selected and full of character without being overwhelming. What made the night even more special was the warm and genuine hospitality from both the team and the chef. Relaxed, creative, and full of care without ever feeling pretentious. Definitely one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in Wellington 😄.
Excellent 10 course tasting menu that was almost vegan! We also had the wine accompaniment which was wonderfully curated. The produce largely comes from their own garden and native herbs feature strongly in a clever way. Everything is fresh and local. Tremendous taste combinations and presentation. Very friendly small team delivering some quite different. Highly recommend.
Delicious food thoughtfully crafted and beautifully paired with the wine flight. Had our own waiter who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He also made us feel super comfortable and looked after. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with only a few tables and a really personal feel. Highly highly recommend for an affordable yet amazing taster menu experience.
From the "Compost" Bread at the start of the evening to the nano shortbread at the end - everything about Hillside is perfect - delivered with obvious care, love and passion (without any self absorbtion). The non alcoholic drink matching menu was a special treat. One of the very best dining experiences we've had.
