Hiking trails and public recreation in Woodridge, Wellington
Brilliant loop walk. Shortish but still healthy. Begins in the new suburb of Woodridge. Start at the kids park and meander up a nicely cut path through highland fields. Rejoice at the radiant beauty in every direction. The entire harbour from Petone to the heads in Seatoun. Look yonder to Mt Kaukau. Lovely loop
Easy 2km walk. Suitable for kids and dogs.
Buggy friendly loop walking track. No super steep parts. Lovely views of the Remutaka ranges, Lower Hutt and Wellington harbour. It's windy and cold up there, so dress warm and take a hat, especially if you're taking children. Took us 50 minutes with a three year old walking/investigating by themselves. It would probably take half an hour usually.
For locals the wind doesn't phase us since Newlands and Woodridge have their own weather system which undoubtedly includes fog, rain and wind whilst many other northern suburbs have the washing outside and use a spa pool on their deck. Anyway about the reserve, it's a great beginners track, nothing technical, enjoy!
i run up, around and down this track everyday and love it! The view is absolutely amazing, but not worth going up on a windy day as you will be at risk of falling as it’s quite open! love how clean the overall track is and it’s nice to see the freshly potted plants. would recommend trying this track out if you live in newlands or woodridge.
